The Armenian tankers received a silver medal in the final round of the Tank Biathlon 2014 international competition, which wrapped up Saturday in Moscow.
Russia captured first place, and China won the bronze medal in the team competitions, reported RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.
The championship of tank-driving skills and precision shooting from machine guns and cannons was held from August 4 to 16 in the Russian capital city.
Crews from twelve countries (Russia, Angola, Belarus, Venezuela, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Kuwait, Mongolia and Serbia), —including Armenia—met for the first time this year in the history of tank battles, and delegations from more than twenty countries attended the international competition as observers.
Besides taking 2nd place, Armenian tankmen received a Т90s tank as a present. The vice champions will arrive at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport on August 17, according to a Facebook post by Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan.
